Price: £699

This system isn’t actually a new one, it’s an upgrade from the old 400. The 400 had a great ANR system and this is even better so it’s a good improvement. It’s stylish, light, and comfortable too (a 30% reduction in clamp pressure helps). It only needs two AA batteries unlike the 400 which needed four so it has a smaller control box. You should get 30 hours from the batteries, but Sennheiser also has optional bigger battery boxes if that's not enough between trips to battery shops.

SPECS

Constant attenuation of up to 40dB throughout the audio range.

Electronics fully integrated into headphone capsules.

Functions as a conventional headset when Noisegard supply voltage is switched off.

VERDICT

The ANR is really good and like the 250 the audio for the iPod works really well. It stayed comfortable for the time and is the better option than the Sennheiser HMEC250 despite the additional cost.
