£669.99

With mag-alloy earcups and stainless steel headband the Lightspeed Zulu looks the part, is beautifully made, easy to set up, is very light (404g) and innovative. It’s comfy and has a slim control panel with 50 hours' battery life (2 x AA). Passive noise reduction is good, particularly for a set so light, but it’s the active reduction that really counts – and the Zulu excels. It has Bluetooth phone connectivity which seems gimmicky but is actually very handy, especially a last number redial key – call taxis while taxiing! The music clarity is one of the best, while a sensor detects when it's taken off and shuts down to save power

FEATURES

Auto music mute during comms – auxiliary device volume cuts by 80%

Bluetooth connectivity to mobile phones and other devices

404g

Automatic mono and stereo switching

 VERDICT

Feature-rich and high comfort, this is a gem.

Noise reduction in passive mode is great, and in active mode is excellent – as good as the Bose for £200 less. There's no trade-off for quality – it's beautifully made. And was given our best buy award in the June '08 headset test.
