PiperSport

RUMOURS first aired in LOOP last year about Piper embracing the Czech SportCruiser into its range are TRUE! At the Sebring Sport Plane Expo in Florida this week, Piper launched the PiperSport.

A statement issued by Piper said:

"Introducing the newest member of the Piper Aircraft family - the PiperSport, one of those rare airplanes that looks like it's as much fun to fly as it is to fly! Sleek and nimble, these sporty beauties will take you on exciting adventures near and far, big and small. And you won't stop grinning until long after you land!

"Slide into the leather seating for two, buckle yourself in, and you're on your way. One of the first things you'll notice is the ultra-wide range of view created by a jet-fighter style clear canopy.

"With three models to choose from, instrument packages may include all of today's advanced avionics, including a removable Garmin GPS navigation system, Dynon flat panel displays, and even autopilot. All three models include a BRS airframe parachute, standard.

"All of this comes at an unbelievable price, too - PiperSport models start at just $119,900."

The PiperSport is clearly aimed at Cessna's own design, the SkyCatcher, deliveries of which have been delayed while changes are made to the rudder and tailplane on production aircraft.
