Stapleford Flight Centre in Essex, is offering the opportunity for members of the public to have a go at flying a Citation II business jet in a simulator.

The trial lessons cost £59 for a half-hour, £99 for an hour, and will take place in Stapleford's Alsim AL 200 simulator, which is used for professional flight training.

Stapleford's Deputy Head of Training, Brian Peppercorn, describes the experience: "You will be guided through the equipment and the flight will be tailored to your level of experience. You'll be shown how to taxi to the hold and get acquainted with the controls prior to departure. Once you have mastered the controls we can look at the approach and landing phase and enjoy a safe smooth touchdown."

The new simulator experience is available for anyone over the age of 10. Up to four people can share the time at the controls - two seated at the controls with two more behind with the instructor. The Alsim AL 200 is a fixed-based device, approved by the CAA for teaching instrument flying and for introducing qualified pilots into the world of multi-crew operations before they move on to big jets.
