CRASH KILLS TESLA MEN

THREE men who worked for electric sports car company Tesla have been killed in an aircraft accident just after take-off.

The accident happened shortly after take-off from Palo Alto Airport, California into thick fog. One report said the aircraft, a Cessna 310 twin piston-engine aircraft, had engine failure on one engine. The aircraft struck an electricity pylon before crashing into houses. No one on the ground was injured.

The men were on their way to a meeting in southern California at Hawthorne Airport.

The pilot was 56-year-old Doug Bourn, flying his own plane. He was an electrical engineer and a key member of the Tesla design team.
"Doug was a fine man, a superb engineer, an inspiration to those who knew him, and a big part of the success of Tesla Motors," Tesla co-founder Martin Eberhard is quoted as saying..
