Compton Abbas

One of the first customers for Total's UL91 avgas at Compton Abbas airfield.

UNLEADED avgas has gone on sale at six UK aerodromes - at between 15 to 20 pence per litre cheaper than regular 100LL avgas.

The fuel is produced by Air Total and has an octane rating of 91. It is ok for use in many engines including various Rotax. Older classic aircraft are also often able to use it.

The six airfields offering Air Total UL91 avgas are:
North Weald
Rochester
Thruxton
Compton Abbas
Wellesbourne Mountford
Turweston

The Light Aircraft Association (LAA) has an Approval Note listing those engines which can use the UL91 avgas (link below). For type certificated aircraft, operators need to check with EASA's Safety Information Bulletin (SIB) number 2011-01R1 issued on 19 April 2011. There is a link to the SIB on the LAA website.
