Pipistrel Panthera

FANCY designing an aircraft paint scheme? Slovenian company Pipistrel is offering a prize of 1000 euro for the winning scheme in a competition it is running for its all-new four-seater, the Panthera.

The Panthera is due to be unveiled this year at the major shows. Pipistrel, winner of the NASA Green Flight Challenge for the past three years, says the Panthera will have a choice of three powerplants. They are:
- A conventional avgas burning Lycoming IO-360 which would give the aircraft a cruise speed of 200kt burning 10 gallons/hour
- A 145Kw hybrid using an electric motor and a range-extender generator unit
- a 145Kw pure electric motor with a range of 400km.

The paint scheme contest rules can be found on Pipistrel's website and Facebook page - but hurry! The contest closes on 10 January.
