THE latest movie to go up on LOOP TV is scary alright – it shows the recent helicopter crash of LOOP helicopter columnist Dennis Kenyon.

Dennis writes about the accident in detail in the next issue of BLADES, LOOP's rotary publication. He says,"I've decided  I shouldn't shuffle off into a corner to nurse my dented ego, but would share my experience. While I appreciate that the number of active display pilots is not high, the lesson I have learned from my series of mistakes might well help all pilots."

The accident happened last month at a little known helicopter show in Salt Lake City, USA.

Dennis writes about what led up to the accident, his pre-display preparation and practice in the "hot and high" conditions which create unusual high Density Altitude conditions. He identifies the various mistakes which led to the accident - which he was lucky to walk away from. The helicopter was destroyed.

But did fate also take a hand? Dennis: "I'm not sure why I'm mentioning any of the following but there were a few spiritual oddballs around. During the day, the St Christopher neck chain that I've worn since 1970 broke and was left in the hotel. And, of course, the display was on Friday the 13th!"
